Farid Hannan

Bio

Farid Hannan specializes in economic development, global health and behavioral science. Currently, Farid is a highly ranked Teaching Fellow of Economics at Harvard College and works for the former Prime Minister of Jordan, HE Omar Razzaz, at the Belfer Center. He holds a Master in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard University, where he was fully funded. He graduated with honors from ITAM in both Economics and International Relations. His undergraduate thesis on economic growth and graduate research on global health have both been awarded. Farid has been invited to present his insights at the Woodrow Wilson Center and UC San Diego.

Formerly, Farid served as the Director of Economic Affairs for North America at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, playing a key role in relaunching the Mexico-U.S. High-Level Economic Dialogue with the White House. He coordinated the donation of 20 million COVID-19 vaccines to Mexico and spearheaded initiatives to boost innovation. He has participated in negotiations on development cooperation, pandemic response, trade, education and immigration. Farid has also supported UN projects in Yemen and contributed to the World Bank's behavioral unit.

An advocate for LGBTQI+ rights, Farid has been instrumental in reforms that enable trans Mexicans abroad to update their birth certificates. He speaks four languages and enjoys practicing yoga.
